A 55-year-old woman was rescued on Sunday morning after falling into a ravine in the south of Tenerife.

The accident happened at around 8am on Calle Los Rosales in Arona, near Cabo Blanco and Buzanada, according to the Canary Islands emergency services.

Emergency teams were called to the scene after reports that the woman had fallen into a barranco and needed urgent help. Firefighters from the rescued her from the ravine and brought her to waiting paramedics.

SUC medical staff treated the woman at the scene before taking her by ambulance to Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria for further treatment.

She suffered several moderate injuries, but no further details about her condition have been released. The cause of the fall is not yet known.
