37-year-old man arrested in Lanzarote for failing to return rental car
A man has been arrested in Lanzarote after police discovered he was driving a rental car he hadn’t returned, with a woman in the passenger seat that he was legally banned from approaching.
The Local Police stopped the vehicle in Arrecife on 3rd June during a routine check, and quickly found the 37-year-old driver had an active restraining order against the woman travelling with him, breaching a court-imposed ban.
Further checks revealed the car he was driving had been reported as never returned by the rental company, which led to a separate charge for not giving the car back.
He was arrested on the spot, read his rights, and taken into custody. The vehicle has since been returned to the rent-a-car company.
