20-year-old woman in serious condition after near-drowning in Lanzarote
A 20-year-old French woman has been taken to hospital in serious condition after almost drowning yesterday morning, Saturday, at Playa Chica, in the municipality of Tías, Lanzarote.
According to the Canary Islands Emergency Services (112), the incident occurred at 10:05am, which is when the Coordination Centre for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) received an alert that a woman had been rescued from the sea, showing symptoms of drowning.
A medicalised ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) was dispatched to the scene. Paramedics treated the woman on the beach, stabilised her, and transferred her to Hospital Doctor José Molina Orosa in Arrecife for further treatment.
Local Police attended the incident and are handling the necessary reports.
