Over 70% of the islands population over 60 have had their first vaccination

The Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) has reported that they have administered 558,338 doses of vaccines against Covid-19, of the 578,200 received, which represents 96.56% of all delivered to the Canary Islands so far, as reported in a press release by the Ministry of Health last night.

Since the first Janssen single dose vaccines arrived on Thursday, 1,373 people between the ages of 70 and 79 have been inoculated with it. It should be remembered that the Janssen formula does not require a second dose, so these people are already immunized.

Up until yesterday, the immunization of 144,608 people who have already received two doses of the vaccine in the Canary Islands, representing 7.73% of the target population (1,871,033 people over the age of 16), had been achieved.

According to the Ministry of Health, the vaccination schedule is being developed by the target population groups to which it is directed and by the availability of each vaccine allocated for each age group according to the National Vaccination Strategy. In this sense, the vaccination teams in each island are advancing with each population group as the previous one ends, without the process being stopped on any island.
