The Minister of Health for Spain, Carolina Darias, who was born in Gran Canaria, was on hand with the Canary Islands Minister of Health, Blas Trujillo, to receive a new shipment of Pfizer vaccines this morning at the Gran Canaria airport. The vaccines arrived at the Groundforce cargo terminal at 8:30am, for collection by UPS for subsequent distribution to the other islands.
This week Spain will receive one and a half million vaccines, 300,000 of which are the first delivery of the Janssen single dose vaccine, alongside, the now regular delivery of 1.2 million from Pfizer every Monday. What is not known yet is how many AstraZeneca will send, although a lower number than expected than scheduled.
