More than 30,000 requests crash the vaccination appointment website

The Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands enabled the web page canariassevacuna.com yesterday morning so that any resident over 16 years of age, regardless of the Island, may request a prior appointment to be vaccinated. In its first few hours of activity, the website processed more than 30,000 requests in just six hours at 120 per minute with appointments until July 31st, but faced with this volume of traffic the page registered some down time, for which they have asked for "patience and understanding."

The truth is that the high demand caused the servers to be saturated for hours, the application suffered continuous drops and worked in fits and starts, which led to some people calling their health centres or 012. However, with patience and persistence, many received confirmation that their application was registered.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes that the system only assigns appointments over the Internet, so do NOT call 012, your local health centre, or any other number associated with them.

Once you do get on the web page, there is a simple form to fill in with your ID number, name, and mobile phone number, with which the Ministry of Health will compare it with the database of health cards, modify it, and update it to speed up the entire vaccination process.

You will then receive an SMS, within two days, with your appointment date to be vaccinated at one of the authorized points, which can be modified once the agendas of your age group are opened, which will allow people to plan their summer holidays.

Even the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, informed on his Twitter feed yesterday of the opening of the website and praised how the Canarian society is responding to the vaccination in a massive way with minimal rejection, as people understand the importance of it to us as a tourist destination and the only way for our way back to normality.

MORE THAN 300,000 PEOPLE ARE ALREADY IMMUNIZED:
The number already immunized in the Canary Islands has reached 306,587 people who have completed their vaccination regimen, which represents 16.39% of the target population (1,871,033 people).

The SCS teams have administered 956,255 of the 1,007,870 vaccines received, 94.88%. In the last week, 115,127 doses have been inoculated, while people who have received at least one dose amount to 673,031 canaries, representing 35.97% of the target population.

Regarding coverage by groups, in group 4, that of large household dependents, 94.4% have been immunized with the two doses; while in group 5, 188,465 people have received the two doses (66.13%), and 277,319 have received at least one dose (97.31%). Group 3, of non-frontline health workers, is already 100% with one dose and 27.8% with two doses; and group 6, made up of 66,000 people, which includes teachers, firefighters, and policemen, 39,791 people have been vaccinated, which is 60.29% with one dose.
