50% of the target population have now had at least one vaccine

The vaccination teams in the Canary Islands have now administered vaccines against Covid-19 to 50% of the target population, which means that 935,442 people have received at least one dose. Likewise, up until yesterday a total of 1,384,768 doses of vaccines had been administered, of the 1,475,730 received, which represents 93.84% of those delivered to the Canary Islands.

In addition, there are already more than half a million people in the Archipelago, specifically 509,930, who have been immunized with two doses or the Janssen single dose vaccine, and last week 171,486 doses of vaccines were administered between June 7th and 13th which is 25,737 more than in the previous week.

Development of the vaccination schedule:
The vaccination schedule is being developed by the target population groups and by the availability of the vaccines allocated for each age group according to the National Vaccination Strategy against Covid-19. In this sense, the vaccination teams in each health zone are advancing with each population group as the previous one ends, prioritizing continuing with the maximum coverage of each age group, without the vaccination process being stopped on any island, to reach 70% of the target population as soon as possible.

Group coverage:
After complete immunization with both doses of Groups 1 and 2 (those corresponding to residents and workers of social health centres and front-line health professionals), vaccination continues with the rest of the groups established following the criteria of vulnerability and exposure.

It should be noted that Group 4, that of large household dependents, is now 73.1% immunized with the two doses, and in Group 5, made up of people over 66 years of age who do not reside in nursing homes, there are already 215,930 people who have received two doses, which is 75.29%, as 100% have had one dose.

Group 3 is already 100% with one dose and 62.32% with two doses; and Group 6, made up of 66,000 people, which includes teachers, firefighters and policemen, among others, 46,998 people (72.2%) have been vaccinated with one dose, while 41.7% are fully immunized.

In Group 7, which includes the population under 60 years of age at risk of severe Covid-19, 99.6% have been vaccinated with one dose, and 77.48% with two doses.

115,049 people between the ages of 60 and 65 who make up Group 8 have already received one dose, which represents 75.45% of that group; while 11.7% have immunization. Regarding Group 9, made up of people between 50 and 59 years old, 75.7% have already had one dose, and 40.26% of that age group have had both doses.

The inoculation of Group 10, which includes people between 40 and 49 years of age, has also progressed so that 66,631 people, 20.69%, have received at least one dose, with 4.38% already immunized.
