Covid update: 5 deaths today make August most deadly month of the pandemic

The latest data from the Ministry of Health, reports of 141 new cases of coronavirus in the Canary Islands today, with 84 in Tenerife, 38 in Gran Canaria, 11 in Lanzarote, 10 in Fuerteventura, and none in the other islands. The total number of accumulated cases in the archipelago is now 91,795 with 13,406 active, of which 76 are admitted to ICU and 372 are hospitalized, with 12,958 still in home isolation.

In the last 24 hours, five Covid deaths have been reported: two men, aged 51 and 68 years old, and a woman aged 80 in Tenerife, and a 91-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman in Gran Canaria. This takes the total number of victims of the virus to 933 since the pandemic began, and makes August the most deathly month as it overtakes last January with 108 deaths compared to 103.
