Covid update: 943 new cases and 3 more deaths in the islands today

The Ministry of Health has reported the death of three people in the Canary Islands (two in Gran Canaria and one in La Palma) and 943 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours in the Archipelago, so that the total number of cases accumulated in the Islands since the beginning of the pandemic is now 77,130 with 12,523 active, of which 71 are admitted to ICU and 436 remain hospitalized in wards.

By Islands, Tenerife continues to be the most affected Island and has registered 485 new positives today; Gran Canaria has registered 371 cases; Fuerteventura 38; Lanzarote 21; La Palma 11; La Gomera 6, and El Hierro 1.

It was hoped after the last two days that a downward trend was starting, so this is not great news as incidence rates continue to increase with IA7 for the islands now at 249.78 and the IA14 470.41.

Today the Canaries has extended the requirement of National travellers, aged 12 and over, from other parts of Spain coming to the Canary Islands, to present a negative test result (including Antigen) to enter the islands until September 30th.

The SCS have announced that people born in 2007 or earlier may be vaccinated without an appointment at various points on both capital islands (Tenerife & Gran Canaria), as follows:
The different points enabled in Gran Canaria are:
- In Infecar from 3.30 to 6pm.
- At the Dr. Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria, on the 4th floor from 11am to 7pm.
- In Pedro Hidalgo from 9am to 1pm.
- In ExpoMeloneras from 3.30 to 6pm.
- In the Juan Vega de Mateos Pavilion in Gáldar from 12-2pm.
- At the Escaleritas Health Center from 12.30 to 2pm.

Vaccination points in Tenerife:
- The Santiago Martín Pavilion will administer doses without an appointment between 2pm and 8pm.
- At the Hospital Universitario de Canarias from 3pm to 7pm.
You can be vaccinated without an appointment daily from 5pm to 7pm at these mass vaccination points in Tenerife:
- The Recinto Ferial in Santa Cruz.
- In the Annex of the Guajara Lecture Hall of the University of La Laguna.
- In the Magma centre in Adeje.
- In the Technological Center (CTcan) of Candelaria.
- In the Hospital del Norte.
- In the Garachico medical centre.
