The Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands has notified of 696 new positives today, taking the total number of cases in the Islands to 76,187 since the pandemic. There are now more than 12,000 active cases in the islands with Tenerife passing 7,000 actives and Gran Canaria more than 4,000. These increases come on the day that the Supreme Court has rejected the application of the curfew in the Canary Islands, considering that it was not sufficiently justified.
In addition, in the last 24 hours there have been three Covid related deaths, all of them in Tenerife, two in Santa Cruz and one in La Laguna, and all three were men aged 85, 83 and 77 years old. All of them suffered from previous pathologies and were admitted to hospital as reported by the Ministry of Health.
By Islands, Tenerife continues to be the most affected with 364 new cases; followed by Gran Canaria with 293; Fuerteventura has 27; Lanzarote 10; La Palma 9; La Gomera 1, and El Hierro 1.
