The downward trend continues in the Canary Islands, but according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health there is a spike in new cases in Lanzarote, who have recorded 45 of 111 new infections reported today. In comparison there are 39 in Tenerife, 21 in Gran Canaria, 6 in Fuerteventura, and none in any of the other islands.
Active cases have dropped again as there have been a further 172 people medically discharged leaving 1,746 active cases across the islands. Tenerife now has 1,001 actives as numbers continue to drop. The other piece of good news is that today is the second day with no Covid related deaths, as the vaccinations continue to show their effectiveness.
The Ministry of Health has also reported today that they have now administered more than one million doses of vaccines against Covid-19, of the 1,112,360 received to date in the Canary Islands. So far, the immunization of 312,705 people has been achieved, which is 16.71% of the target population of the Islands.
Likewise, there are now 703,934 people in the Archipelago who have received at least one dose of the vaccine, which is, 37.62% of the target population.
