Covid update: 69 new cases and no Covid deaths today

The Ministry of Health data shows there have been 69 new cases of coronavirus detected in the Canary Islands in the last 24 hours, with 29 in Tenerife, 17 in Gran Canaria, 14 in Lanzarote, 8 in Fuerteventura, 1 in La Palma, and none in the other two islands, as the downward trend of the epidemiological data continues.

The 7-day incidence rate for the islands is now below 25 at 24.91, with both Tenerife and Gran Canaria at 21. Active cases have also dropped below 2,000 today as the number of people recovering and being discharged after testing positive for the virus continues to exceed the number of new cases.

The other good news is that the protection of vaccination is now having an effect and hospital pressure has eased also. UCI occupancy by Covid patients has dropped by 10% in the last 24 hours, and the number in Covid wards is still below 200.
