The Ministry of Health have notified of six Covid related deaths and 222 new cases of coronavirus in the Canary Islands today. Four people have died in Tenerife and two in Gran Canaria. The deceased in Tenerife are two men aged 65 and 95 years old, and two women, 69 and 84 years old, while the deaths in Gran Canaria are a 94-year-old woman and a 76-year-old man.
Except for the 76 and 95-year-old men, the rest of the deceased were linked to family outbreaks, although all of them had previous pathologies and were already admitted to hospital.
The total number of accumulated cases in the Canary Islands is now 90,644 with 14,396active, of which 89 are admitted to ICU and 391 are in Covid wards, with 13,916 in home isolation.
Of the new cases today, 98 are in Tenerife, 86 are in Gran Canaria, 22 in Fuerteventura, 10 in Lanzarote, 3 are in La Gomera, 2 are in La Palma and one is in La Gomera. As you can see below, some individual incidence rates have gone up, but they continued to decrease for the islands with the IA7 at 84.19 and the IA14 at 209.75. Tenerife has dropped considerably and both Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria are higher now over 7 and 14 days.
