Covid update: 213 new cases today with 157 of them in Tenerife

The Ministry of Health has reported of 213 new infections in the Canary Islands today, with 157 in Tenerife, 39 in Gran Canaria, 16 in Fuerteventura, 1 in Lanzarote, and none in the other islands. With only 37 people medically discharged, active cases have now increased to 2,414 in the islands, of which 196 are in hospital wards, 25 are in ICU, and 2,193 are in home isolation.

On a positive note there were no Covid related deaths reported today, and the SCS vaccination teams have now administered 1,648,158 doses of Covid vaccines, with 671,906 (35.91%) of the target population fully immunised, and 1,047,031 people having had their first jab. Yesterday 33,858 people were vaccinated.

As Tenerife is on the brink of moving into alert Level 3, this amount of new cases doesn’t help the incidence rates, which over 7 days is now over 100 at 102.20 and at 177.36 over 14 days.
