The Canary Islands have added 196 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, so the total accumulated in the archipelago now rises to 49,773, while deaths reach 698 after one new Covid related death in Tenerife and another in Gran Canaria, according to the data provided by the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands this afternoon.
Of the new cases, Tenerife is the island with most again as it adds 98, Gran Canaria 70, Lanzarote 15, and Fuerteventura 8. El Hierro has also added 3 new cases today, and La Palma has 2, La Gomera was the only island with no new infections detected.
Tenerife is now ahead of Gran Canaria in nearly all areas of the epidemiological data, having 2,380 active cases compared to 1,759, an IA 7 of 82.4 versus 74.9, total number of cases 21,113 against 20,697, and number of deaths 388 versus 698. In fact at the moment the only factor that Gran Canaria has higher is the incidence rate over 14 days.
