Monday’s figures from the Ministry of Health after the weekend are always interesting as usually, the number of new cases can be lower on Saturdays and Sundays, then show a sharp increase on a Monday. However, today’s data shows that cases are stable with all but the same number on Friday and Saturday at around 100.
In total 109 new infections have been reported today, of which 42 are in Gran Canaria, 38 are in Tenerife, 19 in Lanzarote, and 11 in Fuerteventura. There have also been two more deaths in Tenerife, meaning that 959 people have now lost their lives to Covid in the Canary Islands.
The incidence rates have risen slightly today, but again are showing they are stable, in what is an important week ahead of the next UK travel list announcement on Wednesday or Thursday, and the Governing Council meeting on Thursday which should see at least Tenerife, but also Fuerteventura, move to Level 2.
