Covid update: Data in Tenerife and Gran Canaria is getting progressively worse

The data in Tenerife and Gran Canaria is getting progressively worse and the two islands are slowly but surely pulling the Canary Islands away from recovery as yet again daily cases exceeded 200 and both islands had more than 100. In addition to this 19 more people are hospitalised than yesterday (17 in wards, 2 in ICU), and two more people have died, one in each of the capital islands.

The Ministry of Health has reported of 239 new cases today, 122 in Tenerife, 100 in Gran Canaria, 12 in Lanzarote and 5 in Fuerteventura. The other islands haven’t registered any new cases today. There were also 327 medical discharges (132 in Tenerife and 135 in Gran Canaria), which sounds good, but this means that active cases only dropped by 11 in Tenerife and 36 in Gran Canaria, which is not good enough if the islands want to move to Level 2.

The fact that daily cases are repeatedly above 200, with these two islands repeatedly having above 100, means that the incidence rates have gone up again, Gran Canarias IA7 is now 83.81 and Tenerife’s is 80.77, but also they are increasing it for the whole archipelago which is 73.39 and going up every day.
