The Canary Islands have now exceeded 86,000 people infected with coronavirus since the pandemic began, by adding 602 new cases today, half of which are in Gran Canaria whose data is increasing whilst Tenerife’s continues to decrease. The Ministry of Health have also reported of 5 more Covid related deaths, 3 in Tenerife and 2 in Gran Canaria.
By Islands, Gran Canaria has registered 301 new cases today whereas Tenerife has added 233; Fuerteventura 40; Lanzarote 20; 7 in La Palma; 1 in El Hierro 1, and none in La Gomera.
586 people have been medically discharged, so active cases stand at 15,577 with 471 Covid patients in wards and 100 in ICU with 15,006 in home isolation. Even though there is an increase in cases today, incidence rates have continued to drop because of the 7-day and 14-day numbers to 177.53 and 422.94 respectively.
