Covid update: 434 new cases and 3 deaths as the data continues to show signs of decrease

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, although there are 50 more new cases today than yesterday (434), the R rate of contagion has decreased, the incidence rates have decreased, and the number of people in hospital with Covid has decreased, even there were three more Covid deaths verified, taking the total number of victims in the islands to 859.

The deaths are confirmed as being a 58-year-old woman in Tenerife and two men of 92 and 83 years old in Gran Canaria, all linked to family outbreaks. All three suffered from previous pathologies and were already admitted to hospital for treatment.

Today there have been 552 people medically discharged which has dropped active cases to 15,566 of which 475 are in Covid wards, 99 are in ICU, and 14,992 are in home isolation.

Of the new cases today, Tenerife has the most again with 226 followed by Gran Canaria with 171, which represents 91% between the two islands. Lanzarote has 24 new cases and is the only island to currently have an increase in incidence, there are 10 new cases in Fuerteventura, 3 in La Palma, and none in La Gomera or El Hierro.
