Covid update: 384 new cases… Is this the downward trend we’ve been waiting for?

The latest data from the Ministry of Health reports of 384 new cases of coronavirus in the Canary Islands today, against 710 medical discharges, meaning that new cases have decreased, the number of active cases has decreased, and incidence rates have continued to drop, with the IA7 for the islands now less than 200.

The bad news is there have been three more Covid related deaths, two in Gran Canaria and one in La Palma, and hospital admissions and ICU occupancy have both increased by 22 more patients.

Of today’s new cases, 183 are in Tenerife, 176 are in Gran Canaria, 14 in Fuerteventura, 7 in La Palma, 4 in Lanzarote, and none in La Gomera or El Hierro.

There hasn’t been an update regarding vaccination figures at the time of publication, but the SCS have praised the attendance to vaccination centres of the younger members of society, as over 12-year-olds have been visiting the main centres all weekend to receive their first jab without an appointment.
