Covid update: Canarias adds 237 new infections and three deaths

The Canary Islands have added 237 new cases of coronavirus this Thursday, exceeding 200 infections for the fourth day running, raising the accumulated total since the beginning of the pandemic to 48,412 cases. Of these, 4,418 are still active, which is 85 less than yesterday, 82 are admitted to Intensive Care Units, 320 are admitted to hospital wards (eight more than yesterday), and 4,016 are in home treatment.

The islands also registered three deaths in the last 24 hours, two in Tenerife and one in Fuerteventura, bringing the total number of fatalities from this pandemic to 687. The positive news is the 319 medical discharges registered this morning, and now the accumulated total exceeds the barrier of 43,000 discharges by reaching 43,307 today.

By islands, Gran Canaria adds the most new cases again with 113 and raises it’s accumulated to 20,131 of which 1,817 are still active. They also had 145 people discharged today. Tenerife added 109 new cases and its accumulated total has increased to 20,448 of which 2,288 are still active, with 135 discharges today. Lanzarote has registers eleven new cases, Fuerteventura just four new infections, and La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro remain unchanged.
