Covid update: 216 new cases and one death in the Canary Islands

The Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands has notified of 216 new cases of coronavirus today. The total accumulated cases in the Islands are now 47,939 with 4,542 active, of which 77 are admitted to the ICU and 307 remain hospitalized. In the last 24 hours there has been one death recorded, of a 94-year-old woman in Gran Canaria which is associated with a family outbreak.

Of the new cases, Gran Canaria is yet again the island with the most, recording 117 news cases, followed by Tenerife with 101, Fuerteventura with 9, and Lanzarote with 8. For the second day running there were no new cases recorded in the three other islands.

The Accumulated Incidence at 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 60.16 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and over 14 days at 121.69 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. To date, a total of 978,071 PCR tests have been carried out in the Islands, of which 3,398 correspond to the last 24 hours.
