Covid update: An unvaccinated 26 year old amongst Covid victims today

The Ministry of Health has reported just 105 new cases of Covid in the Canary Islands today, with 53 new cases in Gran Canaria, 28 in Tenerife, 11 in Fuerteventura, 11 in Lanzarote, 1 in La Gomera, 1 in El Hierro, and none in La Palma. However, they have also verified four more Covid related deaths (all males), taking the total number of victims to 947 since the pandemic began.

Of the people that lost their lives today, three were in Tenerife and one in Gran Canaria. In Tenerife those that died were aged 26, 50, and 90 years old, while the one from Gran Canaria was 59 years old. All were admitted to hospital after testing positive for the virus, and medical reports show that the 26 and 59-year-old had no previous pathologies or vaccination.

The Incidence rate over 7 days for the Canary Islands has dropped again and now stands at 44.95 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and over 14 days is at 111.03 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. In fact, as of today, all the islands have an IA7 under 50 except Fuerteventura as the downward trend continues.
