According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, there have been 820 new cases of coronavirus detected in the Canary Islands today, of which over 90% continue to be in Tenerife (422 new cases) and Gran Canaria (347 new cases) as the other islands are seeing a sharp decrease in the incidence rates.
The IA7’s in Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro are all now below 75 as the spread of the infection is being controlled on those islands, it is staying below 200 in Fuerteventura (187) as they are stabilising it, and Tenerife and Gran Canaria are getting ever closer to each other as it continues to decrease slightly on one island and increase on the other.
They have also confirmed the death of two more people in Tenerife from the virus, both men aged 76 and 80 years old with previous pathologies and hospitalised for a long period of time due to Covid.
Today’s data represents a decrease of almost 15% in new cases compared to last Thursday, when 972 new infections were reported. In the last five days there has been a steady decline in the number of cases and incidence rates, although deaths and hospital admissions have increased.
