Covid update: 175 new cases and one death in the Canary Islands today

The Canary Islands has added 175 new cases of coronavirus today (54 less than last Thursday) to reach a total of 92,285 infections since the start of the pandemic. The islands now have 12,635 active cases (194 less than yesterday) of which 70 are admitted to ICU, 351 are in hospital wards, and 12,214 are in home isolation. In addition, the islands registered 368 epidemiological discharges in the last 24 hours which is why active cases have gone down.

The Ministry of Health have also notified of one Covid related death in Tenerife, a 72-year-old woman linked to a family outbreak, who suffered from previous pathologies and was already in hospital.

The SCS have announced that their vaccination teams have now administered over 3 million doses of Covid vaccines, and 83% of the target population have had at least one jab.

Also, with the Santiago Martin pavilion closing, anyone who had an appointment there will now be vaccinated at the Recinto Ferial in Santa Cruz and be informed by SMS or via the MiCita Previa APP.
