Yet again the latest data from the Ministry of Health updating the evolution of the pandemic in the Canary Islands is not good reading and shows that the situation in the islands is getting worse. The president, Angel Victor Torres, announced earlier today that police presence is going to increase and that we all have to take responsibility to protect our collective future, whether young, old, individual or a business owner.
Bars and restaurants are allowed to open inside, so it is imperative that they return the favour and enforce the regulations, if not they will be closed again. The public should ensure they are wearing masks whenever necessary and don’t ignore rules by meeting in big groups or having parties, why? Simple, our future is at stake.
At the current rate of increase of cases and incidence rates, if the UK implements freedom of travel for those who are double vaccinated towards the end of this month, the Canary Islands will be on the UK ‘red list’ not the ‘amber list’ meaning quarantine in a government hotel at a cost of £1,750. Obviously people don’t want to hear this, but it is where we are headed if we don’t do something about it.
The answer? Avoid big gatherings. Avoid bars you may know that are flouting or ignoring the rules. Make sure you wear your mask where it is required. Act responsibly and pull others up that aren’t adhering to the regulations. You want it to be over. This is how.
