Covid update: October starts with 61 new cases and one Covid related death

According to the Ministry of Health, the Canary Islands has registered 44 new outbreaks in the last week, which represents a decrease compared to those notified seven days ago, when there were 62, and is consistent with the downward trend of the pandemic in the archipelago.

These new outbreaks are added to the existing ones that are being monitored, and the new outbreaks have added 211 associated cases, which is 122 less than last week.

Of these, 21 have occurred on the island of Gran Canaria (19 less than the previous week); 11 in Fuerteventura (four less than last week); 6 in Lanzarote (one more than the previous week); 5 in Tenerife (four less than last week); and one in El Hierro.

By areas, 16 family outbreaks have been reported, ten social ones from meeting in public, eight work-related, seven of socially vulnerable groups, and two in education centres. In addition, there has been a health outbreak in the Hospital Insular de Lanzarote, affecting three people, two patients and a family member.
