Yellow weather warning issued for dangerous coastal conditions on Tuesday

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow weather warning for Tuesday, forecasting rough seas and dangerous coastal conditions across the Canary Islands.

The affected areas include all of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, and El Hierro, as well as the north and west coasts of Tenerife, and the north coast of Gran Canaria with waves reaching up to five metres.

This adverse weather is linked to the tail end of a storm system that will hit the Iberian Peninsula on 18th February, bringing rain to Tenerife and the western Canary Islands, and the possibility of isolated showers in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

Authorities urge caution, particularly for those swimming or engaging in water activities, and to observe the colour flags on beaches before entering the water.
