Woman dies after allegedly being forced to inhale toxic gases
A 32-year-old woman has died in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday) in the municipality of Breña Alta, on the island of La Palma, after allegedly being forced by her mother to inhale toxic gases.
According to the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC), initial investigations suggest the mother may have been responsible for her daughter’s death.
Judicial proceedings have already been opened in the duty court of Santa Cruz de La Palma, and the case is now being formally investigated as a suspected homicide.
The mother, whose identity has not been released, is currently in hospital after reportedly attempting to take her own life by also inhaling toxic gases. Her condition has not yet been confirmed by authorities.
The shocking case has caused deep concern in the local community, with investigators working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the young woman’s death.
