VIDEO: Man shot after attacking Guardia Civil officer with ‘sharp object’
A man has been hospitalised after being shot in the leg by the Guardia Civil in San Sebastián de La Gomera yesterday afternoon (Monday).
According to reports, the man was in an agitated state and required medication. When officers from both the Guardia Civil and the Local Police attempted to calm him, he produced a sharp object and attacked the agents.
In response, one of the officers drew their service weapon and fired several shots, one of which struck the man in the leg. He was immediately taken to hospital, where he remains under medical care.
The incident caused moments of tension in the area but was quickly brought under control by the security forces.
A full investigation into the incident has been initiated.
