The Fuerteventura Cabildo has confirmed that minimum bus services will be maintained during the drivers’ strike called for today and tomorrow (Monday and Tuesday), which affects interurban transport routes across the island.
The strike has been organised by the workforce of ALSA, the company that operates Fuerteventura’s regular interurban bus services.
It comes after negotiations over the sector’s collective bargaining agreement stalled between the workers’ committee and employers.
According to the Cabildo, although the strike applies across the province, it will only affect regular interurban services, not urban or tourist routes. On the two main strike days, services will run at a reduced level, but with at least 70% of routes guaranteed.
In the following days, the strike will continue in the form of intermittent stoppages, again with a minimum service maintained to ensure residents and visitors are not left without essential transport links.
Those wishing to check which routes and times are operating under the minimum service schedule can do so via the official websites: www.tiadhe.com/todas-las-rutas and www.cabildofuer.es.
The Cabildo advises allowing extra time for journeys and checking timetables in advance while the dispute remains unresolved.
