Two people have been arrested, and a third is under investigation after customs officers and the Guardia Civil discovered two large cannabis plantations in north Tenerife, seizing almost 450 marijuana plants along with drugs, cash and vehicles.

The operation took place in the municipalities of La Victoria de Acentejo and La Matanza de Acentejo, where investigators discovered two properties allegedly being used to grow, process and distribute cannabis.

The investigation began after officers received information about a suspected cannabis plantation inside a residential property in La Victoria de Acentejo. After gathering evidence, they identified two tenants believed to be involved in cultivating and supplying the drugs.

Further enquiries led investigators to a second house in nearby La Matanza de Acentejo, where they suspected another plantation was operating. Following court approval, officers searched both properties.

Inside the first house, officers found an organised cannabis-growing operation with plants at different stages of cultivation. Several rooms had been converted for production, using artificial lighting, humidifiers, water pumps, fertilisers and air filtration systems to maximise crop yields.

A second plantation was also discovered at the other property. In total, officers seized 448 marijuana plants, almost 12 kilograms of dried cannabis buds, 46 grams of hashish resin, cash and two vehicles.

The two suspects have been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking, while a third person remains under investigation in connection with the case. The detainees have been placed before the courts as the investigation continues.
