Two Arrested in Tenerife in national operation against Jihadist propaganda

In a coordinated national effort against Islamic radicalism, Guardia Civil investigators conducted a raid yesterday morning (Tuesday) in Tenerife, resulting in the arrest of two men for promoting jihadist propaganda online.

According to the limited information released, as the case is protected by a secrecy order, agents from Tenerife, along with professionals from mainland Spain, participated in the operation. A single residential search was conducted on the island.

This operation, part of a larger national initiative, has so far resulted in nine arrests and multiple searches in locations including Antas (Almería), Algeciras (Cádiz), Salt (Girona), and Tenerife.

The raid in Tenerife took place in the municipality of Los Realejos in the north of the island. Preliminary reports indicate that the arrested individuals were involved in downloading and intensively sharing content from websites that promote jihadism.

Several units of the Guardia Civil were deployed in the La Zamora neighbourhood, where they conducted the house search. Armed agents cordoned off Calle Mencey Bentor, which runs between La Zamora and La Cruz Santa, and searched a house located next to a workshop making the arrests and seizing computers and other relevant items.
