Tragedy as British baby girl dies after falling into swimming pool on family holiday

A British toddler has tragically died after falling into a hotel swimming pool during a family holiday in Majorca, the 17-month-old girl was found by her parents floating in one of the hotel's pools in Port d'Alcúdia. The toddler was admitted to hospital in critical condition on Tuesday, but despite doctors best efforts, she died on Thursday.

One of the hotel's lifeguards was the first to perform CPR to try and revive her until emergency services arrived at the scene, and CECOES (Emergency Services Coordination Centre) dispatched the Local Police, Guardia Civil, and an ambulance to the hotel.

When paramedics arrived they took over from the lifeguard and managed to temporarily resuscitate the young girl, and then rushed her to intensive care in the Son Espases hospital in critical condition, where she was admitted to intensive care.

Unfortunately, the emergency services have reported that they couldn’t save the girl’s life, and her death was confirmed on Thursday at 5pm.

An investigation is underway to determine what happened at the hotel pool, to find out how and why she was found floating in the water by her parents.
