The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a forecast of cloudy weather with a chance of light rainfall across the Canary Islands for today, Thursday, particularly affecting the more mountainous islands.
Temperatures will remain steady, while strong northeasterly winds are set to sweep across parts of the archipelago.
Once again, AEMET has placed the Canary Islands under a yellow weather warning this week due to strong winds expected to impact certain areas.
Forecast Overview:
In the north of the mountainous islands, skies will be largely overcast, with a likelihood of light showers, especially in mid-altitude areas. Elsewhere, conditions will be clearer, with fewer clouds expected.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will start the day under cloudy skies, but these are expected to clear as the day progresses, with some lingering cloud cover on their western sides.
Moderate to strong northeasterly winds are forecast, with very strong gusts likely on the southeast and northwest slopes of the mountainous islands, as well as in elevated areas and interior regions of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Winds are expected to ease towards the evening.
Sea Conditions:
At sea, north to northeasterly winds will reach force 5 or 6, strengthening to force 7 offshore. Moderate to rough seas are expected, along with a northerly or northeasterly swell of 1 to 2 metres.
