The weather warning for calima and haze is extended to all of the Canary Islands

The General Directorate of Emergencies has extended the weather warning for intense haze to all of the Canary Islands from 10:00am this morning (Tuesday), as strong winds from the east are bringing suspended dust, which will meet the storms and rain front that has affected the islands in the west.

They warn that there will be reduced visibility of just 1,500 metres in areas worst affected as the day progresses, and that concentrations will be between 640 and 1,240 micrograms of dust per cubic metre of air.

Likewise, the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has confirmed that as of this afternoon, a major intrusion of desert dust is expected "that will affect the easternmost islands first, but will spread quickly to the rest of islands“.

TENERIFE:
Orange warnings for wind with maximum gusts of 90km/h in all areas of the island until Tuesday night at 11:59pm.

GRAN CANARIA:
Yellow warnings for visibility problems due to haze/dust until Tuesday night at 11:59pm.
Yellow warnings for winds up to 70km/h until Tuesday night at 11:59pm.

LANZAROTE:
Yellow warnings for visibility problems due to haze/dust until Tuesday night at 11:59pm.

FUERTEVENTURA:
