The Calima will start to subside this Tuesday in the Canary Islands

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) reports that the calima will continue to be present this morning, but will start to subside this afternoon (Tuesday), especially in the southern parts of the Canary Islands, bringing a change in the weather over the next few days.

As the calima begins to lift, there will be clearer skies and improved visibility later in the afternoon. The maritime conditions indicate a varied wind pattern, and anyone planning activities at sea should be aware of changing conditions, especially on the west coast and extreme south of the islands in the afternoon.

Sea conditions will range from moderate to rough, with a swell that is forecasted to be 1 metre initially, rising to 2 metres. Variable winds of 1 to 4 are anticipated, except for southeast winds at 3 to 5. Northeast winds of 3 to 5 are expected offshore in the northwest during the early hours and 2 to 4 in the southeast tonight.
