Teenager critically injured after being run over by bus in Gran Canaria
A 17-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being run over and trapped beneath a municipal bus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria yesterday evening (Wednesday). The shocking incident occurred on Paseo Tomás Morales, leading to a major emergency response.
CECOES 1-1-2 received multiple calls just after 8:30 p.m., reporting that a pedestrian had been hit by a bus and was lying underneath the vehicle. Given the severity of the alert, emergency services were sent immediately.
Firefighters arrived to find the teenager pinned beneath the bus and carried out an urgent rescue operation, working in coordination with medical teams to free her safely. The girl had suffered multiple severe traumatic injuries and was in a critical condition when paramedics reached her.
SUC medical staff stabilised her at the roadside before rushing her to the Hospital Universitario de Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín in a medicalised ambulance under police escort. Local Police officers cleared traffic and opened a rapid route to the hospital in a race against time.
Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine how the collision occurred on such a busy urban stretch, with officers taking statements and gathering evidence as the girl remains in critical condition.
