The Canary Islands are forecast to have another day of typical trade wind weather today, Thursday, with cloudier skies in northern areas, sunshine in the south and a chance of light rain in some higher areas on the more mountainous islands.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), temperatures will remain largely unchanged across the archipelago, while northerly to north-easterly winds are expected to strengthen during the afternoon.

At sea, moderate north and north-easterly winds will create slight to moderate wave conditions, with a northerly swell of around one metre.

Island by island forecast for Thursday 18th June 2026:

Tenerife
Northern parts of Tenerife will start the day under mostly cloudy skies below 1,200 to 1,300 metres, with a chance of light drizzle in north-eastern mid-altitude areas during the early morning. Cloud cover is expected to break up gradually during the afternoon, allowing for brighter conditions later in the day.

Elsewhere on the island, including the south and west, skies will be a mixture of sunshine and cloud, while the central mountain areas around Teide are forecast to remain largely clear.

Popular resort areas such as Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos and Golf del Sur can expect lengthy sunny spells and warm temperatures throughout the day.

Winds will be light from the north, becoming stronger along the eastern coast and far north-west. Western coastal areas will see local sea breezes, while moderate westerly winds are expected across the central summits.
General temperature range: Low of 22°C and high of 28°C.

Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria will see the familiar divide between north and south. In northern municipalities below 1,100 to 1,200 metres, skies will remain mostly cloudy during the morning, with a slight chance of light drizzle in mid-altitude areas before conditions gradually improve during the afternoon.

The south, including Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, Meloneras, Puerto Rico and Mogán, is expected to remain largely sunny and dry throughout the day.

Temperatures will remain stable, although slightly cooler daytime highs are expected in the north compared with recent days. Moderate northerly winds will strengthen during the afternoon, particularly on eastern and north-western slopes, while southern coastal areas will benefit from lighter sea breezes.
General temperature range: Low of 20°C and high of 26°C.

Lanzarote
Lanzarote will begin the day under generally cloudy skies before conditions gradually improve. By the afternoon, clearer skies are expected across south-eastern areas, including parts of Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen, bringing more sunshine later in the day.

Temperatures will remain steady. Northerly winds will start light before increasing to moderate strength through the morning.
General temperature range: Low of 20°C and high of 25°C.

Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura will also see a cloudy start, particularly across northern and western parts of the island. As the day progresses, skies are expected to clear across eastern areas, including Puerto del Rosario and Caleta de Fuste, with increasing sunshine from around midday onwards.

Temperatures will remain comfortable. Light northerly winds will gradually strengthen during the afternoon, creating fresh conditions in exposed coastal locations.
General temperature range: Low of 20°C and high of 26°C.
