THURSDAY WEATHER: Clouds and light rain expected across the Canary Islands
Much of the Canary Islands will be under cloudy skies today, Thursday, with occasional light and isolated showers in some areas, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). Temperatures will remain mild, with maximums around 26°C in and light northerly winds across the archipelago.
At sea, north to north-westerly winds will blow at force 3 to 4, occasionally reaching force 5, with seas ranging from slight to moderate and a north-westerly swell of 1 to 2 metres.
LANZAROTE
Lanzarote will experience a mostly cloudy day, especially along the western coast and inland areas during the early morning and again in the late afternoon. Occasional clear spells may appear over the eastern and southern coasts around midday, offering some sunshine for beachgoers.
There is a low chance of light, isolated rain, mainly on the northern slopes, but overall rainfall will be scarce. Temperatures will remain pleasant, with daytime highs near 26°C and night-time lows around 19°C. Light northerly winds will dominate, accompanied by gentle sea breezes along the coast.
FUERTEVENTURA
Fuerteventura will see variable cloud cover, with thicker clouds over the western and northern parts of the island early and late in the day. Central and eastern areas, including Corralejo and Caleta de Fuste, may see sunny intervals, particularly during the morning hours.
Although light showers cannot be ruled out, especially in the northern highlands, rain is expected to be brief and scattered. Temperatures will remain steady, with highs around 25°C and lows of about 19°C, making for a mild day overall. Winds will be light from the north, shifting slightly northwest later, and coastal breezes will keep conditions comfortable.
GRAN CANARIA
Gran Canaria is expected to begin the day with partly cloudy skies, becoming cloudier inland and over the northern slopes as the day progresses. During the afternoon, light rain may develop in interior areas, particularly in the mountainous central zone near Tejeda and Valleseco.
Coastal regions, including Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Maspalomas, will likely remain dry with sunny intervals, especially on the southern side of the island. Temperatures will remain stable, with highs of around 26°C on the coast and slightly cooler values inland. Light northerly winds will prevail, with local breezes in coastal areas.
TENERIFE
Tenerife will also see a mix of clouds and sunshine, with increasing cloudiness across the interior and northern slopes through the day. The La Orotava Valley and northern highlands may experience light showers in the afternoon, while southern resorts such as Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje are expected to stay mostly dry with some sunny breaks.
Temperatures will remain pleasant, with highs near 26°C in coastal areas and lows around 22°C. Winds will be light from the north, turning slightly northwest later in the day, with sea breezes making for comfortable conditions along the coasts.
LA GOMERA
Partly cloudy, turning mostly cloudy inland later in the day, with a chance of light rain. Temperatures stable. Light north winds with local breezes. High of 27°C and a low of 21°C.
LA PALMA
Partly cloudy, tending to cloudy during the afternoon with light rain expected, especially on the north and east slopes. Minimums steady, maximums slightly lower. Light north winds, westerly at higher elevations. High of 25°C and a low of 21°C.
EL HIERRO
Partly cloudy, becoming cloudy in central areas during the afternoon with possible light rain. Temperatures steady. Light north winds with breezes. High of 22°C and a low of 17°C.
Overall, the Canary Islands can expect a typical autumn day with mild temperatures, light winds, and occasional showers — perfect for exploring between the clouds.
