The Canary Islands are set for another largely sunny day today, Sunday, with only limited cloud cover expected across most of the archipelago, according to latest forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency, AEMET.
While northern areas of several islands will begin the day under cloudy skies, forecasters expect sunny spells and clearer conditions to develop through the middle of the day. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged along the coasts, although some inland areas could see a slight drop in temperatures.
Moderate north-easterly trade winds will continue across the islands, occasionally strengthening in exposed areas, particularly on the south-eastern and north-western coasts of the mountainous islands.
At sea, moderate northerly and north-easterly winds are expected to generate moderate swell conditions, occasionally increasing to rougher seas in some areas. A northerly swell of around one metre is also forecast.
Island by island forecast for Sunday 14th June 2026:
Tenerife
Tenerife will see cloud cover across northern areas below 800 to 1,000 metres during the morning, although clearer skies are expected through much of the day, except in the far north-east. The rest of the island is forecast to remain largely sunny and dry.
Temperatures will see little change along the coast, while inland and mid-altitude areas could experience slightly cooler conditions. Moderate north-easterly winds will affect much of the island, with stronger gusts possible in the north-west, south-east and parts of the Santa Cruz metropolitan area.
General temperature range: Low of 20°C and high of 28°C.
Gran Canaria
Northern parts of Gran Canaria below 700 to 800 metres will begin the day cloudy before brighter conditions develop. Elsewhere, skies will remain mostly clear.
Strong wind gusts remain possible in exposed western and south-eastern coastal areas, particularly during the afternoon.
Temperatures will remain stable along the coast, although inland areas may see slight to moderate decreases. Temperatures could still reach 30°C in some south-eastern mid-altitude locations.
General temperature range: Low of 20°C and high of 26°C.
Fuerteventura
Cloud is expected in northern and coastal areas early and late in the day, with sunshine dominating for much of the afternoon. Moderate north-easterly winds will strengthen later in the day, especially around Jandía and the south-west coast.
Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, although maximum temperatures may rise slightly. Forecasters say parts of the south-east could reach 30°C.
General temperature range: Low of 20°C and high of 26°C.
Lanzarote
Northern and western parts of Lanzarote will remain mostly cloudy, while the rest of the island will enjoy largely sunny conditions after some early coastal cloud.
Temperatures are expected to remain stable, with moderate north-easterly winds becoming slightly stronger during the afternoon.
General temperature range: Low of 19°C and high of 27°C.
Ideal Conditions for Outdoor Activities
The forecast points to another pleasant June day across much of the Canary Islands, with plenty of sunshine, comfortable temperatures and only limited cloud cover away from northern coastal areas.
However, beachgoers, swimmers and those heading out on the water are advised to pay attention to local sea conditions, particularly in areas where stronger winds and rougher seas are expected during the afternoon.
