Sunday’s Weather: Light rain and rough seas expected across the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are set to experience a day of light rain and unsettled coastal conditions today, Sunday, according to forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency, AEMET.

The northern regions of the islands will be most affected by rainfall, which is expected to taper off around midday, though occasional showers or even isolated storms may continue until midnight.

At sea, conditions will be rough. Northerly to northwesterly winds are forecast at force 4 or 5 on the Beaufort scale, strengthening locally to force 6 in the east and southwest during the afternoon.

Swells of around two metres are expected from the northwest, contributing to a state of rough or heavy sea.
