The Canary Islands are bracing for the impact of Storm Bert, which is expected to bring a cold front with cloudy skies, rainfall, and thunderstorms, particularly affecting Tenerife and the western islands.
The storm is coming amid warnings of strong winds and rough seas across 12 regions of Spain, including the Canary Islands.
According to AEMET, the cold front associated with Storm Bert will also impact the western Iberian Peninsula, with medium to high cloud cover and precipitation in Galicia, Asturias, western Castilla y León, and the Central System region. Winds are expected to reach orange alert levels in Galicia and Asturias, with powerful gusts forecast.
Other areas of Spain, including eastern Catalonia and the Pyrenees, will experience occasional showers. Temperatures are predicted to drop across the Canary Islands while rising on the mainland, with a notable increase in minimum temperatures due to southern winds. Maximum temperatures are set to reach 27°C in Gran Canaria.
