Sideout Tenerife crowned Spanish U21 Women’s Beach Volleyball Champions
The dynamic duo of Keyra Plettener and Violeta Sena, representing CD Sideout Tenerife, have been crowned Spanish U21 Women’s Beach Volleyball Champions after an exceptional tournament run, going undefeated from start to finish.
The pair dominated from the outset, advancing to the round of 16 as group leaders without dropping a single set. One of their standout performances came in the group stage against CVP Costa Blanca, where the Sideout team secured top spot with a commanding 21-16, 21-16 victory.
In the knockout rounds, Plettener and Sena continued their impressive form. They defeated CV Cide 1 in the round of 16 (21-18, 23-21), and swept past CV Bunyola in the quarter-finals (21-9, 23-21). The only match that pushed them to a third set was the semi-final against CV Higuerón Resort, where they triumphed 21-11, 20-22, 15-11.
In the final, the Sideout Tenerife duo claimed the title in style, overpowering their opponents with a decisive 2-0 win (21-14, 21-17).
Speaking after the victory, Violeta Sena, originally from Málaga, said it was the first time they had played together, but they quickly found their rhythm and chemistry on the court. Keyra Plettener, from Adeje in the south of Tenerife, expressed her immense joy, especially given the strength of the opposition, noting that they approached the final with “calmness and adaptability”.
Their coach, and Keyra’s father, Yoyi Luis was visibly emotional, admitting the team had come together “almost by chance”, but had achieved something remarkable. He expressed his hope that the partnership would continue to grow and bring more success in the future.
CD Sideout Tenerife, a club sponsored by Spring Hotels based in the south of the island, is on the rise, with a strong commitment to developing home-grown talent through its youth programme. This national title is a major milestone in its growing reputation within Spanish beach volleyball.
