Rain showers return to parts of the Canary Islands this Sunday

The Canary Islands will see a return of rain showers today, Sunday, mainly in the north of the mountainous islands, while the eastern islands will remain mostly dry with cloudy spells, according to the Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
In Tenerife, the north will be cloudy with light showers from midday, which may be heavier in the mid-altitudes. The south will stay sunnier and warmer, with highs of 29°C. Winds will strengthen later in the day, with strong gusts possible on higher ground.
In Gran Canaria, the north will also see cloudy skies and afternoon showers, more likely in the mid-altitudes, while the south will remain brighter. Temperatures will be around 26°C.
In Lanzarote, skies will be variable, cloudier in the north with a small chance of light afternoon showers. Highs will reach 27°C, with northeast winds strengthening later in the day.
In Fuerteventura, similar conditions are expected, with cloudy intervals especially in the north and west, and a slight chance of weak, scattered showers in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach 27°C.
At sea, northeast winds will reach force 5 along the southeast and west coasts, occasionally force 6 offshore. Elsewhere, they will be force 3 to 4, easing to 2 or 3 on northern coasts. Seas will be slight to moderate, with rougher conditions offshore in the southeast and west, and a northwest swell rising to 1–2 metres.
