Showers are expected to make a return to the Canary Islands today, Wednesday, especially in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and the north of the larger islands, according to the latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Cloudy intervals are expected early in the day, becoming more overcast through the morning in the eastern islands and the northern slopes elsewhere, bringing light rain that could be locally moderate at times. Brighter skies are expected to return during the afternoon.
Elsewhere, the day will begin mostly clear, although cloud cover will increase as the day progresses, and light, variable winds are forecast to strengthen from the northeast.
Temperatures will drop slightly to moderately, particularly daytime highs in the north and at higher altitudes. Little change is expected on the southern sides of the mountainous islands.
At sea, winds will shift from a southerly component at force 2 to 4 to a lighter westerly during the afternoon before increasing again from the north or northeast later in the day. Seas will range from rippled to slight, with a north-westerly swell of around three metres expected along northern and north-eastern coasts. Showers are also likely offshore to the north by the end of the day.
