A man has been arrested in the municipality of Pájara after National Police officers uncovered a fully equipped indoor cannabis farm hidden inside a squatted house, following weeks of surveillance and investigation.
The operation was led by agents from the Comisaría Local of Puerto del Rosario, who began monitoring the property in late December after receiving intelligence suggesting an active marijuana grow. Officers quickly detected tell-tale signs of illicit cultivation, including noise from ventilation systems and unusual activity around the building.
Investigators also confirmed that the property had no legal electricity supply registered with Endesa, raising suspicions that the grow was being powered using illegally tapped electricity. This is a common method used by drug producers to avoid high consumption bills and detection.
With evidence mounting, police obtained a warrant to enter the home. During the raid, specialist drugs units discovered a complete indoor cannabis setup, seizing 34 plants, 54.5 grams of hashish, and €150 in cash believed to be linked to the operation.
The suspect was immediately detained and is now facing charges of drug trafficking and electricity fraud.
