Police find missing 10-year-old boy in Maspalomas

A 10-year-old boy has been found safe after becoming separated from his family while they were on holiday in Maspalomas, in south Gran Canaria.

The boy, who has autism, became lost near the Maspalomas dunes on Tuesday afternoon, 27th October. When his parents realised they could not find him, they contacted the National Police and gave officers a description.

Police began searching the area and found him a short time later on Avenida de Gran Canaria, where he appeared disorientated.

After checking that he was well and did not need medical treatment, officers took him back to the hotel where his family was staying on holiday. He was then reunited with his parents.

The family were visiting Gran Canaria from abroad, although their nationality has not been confirmed.

The National Police have reminded families to contact the emergency services immediately if a child goes missing and to provide as much information as possible to help officers find them.
