The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued its weather forecast for today, Monday, predicting mostly clear skies across the Canary Islands, a slight rise in temperatures, and light to moderate winds.
In Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria, the wind will generally come from the northeast and will be influenced by sea breezes. In the rest of the archipelago, it will be from the south.
However, conditions are expected to change later in the day, particularly in La Palma, where winds will strengthen considerably in the afternoon, with strong gusts anticipated in exposed areas.
As for maritime conditions, light variable winds are forecast (force 1 to 4), along with coastal breezes. The state of the sea will vary between slight and smooth, with a northwest swell bringing waves of 1 to 2 metres, increasing to 2 to 3 metres later in the day.
Island-by-Island Forecast for today:
LANZAROTE:
Morning low cloud cover is expected, particularly along eastern coastlines where mist may form. The skies will clear as the day progresses. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged. Light northeasterly winds will be moderated by sea breezes and will strengthen in the west by the evening.
Forecasted temperatures: Minimum 16°C, Maximum 24°C.
FUERTEVENTURA:
Similar conditions to Lanzarote, with some low clouds and coastal mist in the morning giving way to mostly clear skies. Temperatures will see little variation. Light northeasterly winds influenced by sea breezes will increase later in the day, particularly inland.
Forecasted temperatures: Minimum 16°C, Maximum 23°C.
GRAN CANARIA:
Skies will remain largely clear, with some morning low clouds along the coasts and occasional daytime clouds in lower northwestern areas. Slight temperature increases are expected in sheltered inland areas in the west. Winds will be light to moderate from the east, shaped by local breeze patterns.
Forecasted temperatures: Minimum 17°C, Maximum 24°C.
TENERIFE:
Mostly clear skies are forecast, with some early low clouds along coastal areas and daytime clouds likely in the north. Maximum temperatures may rise slightly in inland leeward areas in the west. Winds will be light to moderate from the south, influenced by sea breezes. Moderate westerly winds are expected in the central highlands.
Forecasted temperatures: Minimum 17°C, Maximum 25°C.
Later in the week, further weather developments will be monitored, as another Atlantic storm is expected to enter the islands on Wednesday and Thursday.
