VIDEO: Major search for missing person on Tenerife coast
Emergency teams have been carrying out a for a missing person at sea in the areas of Charco de La Laja and Punta de Marrero, within the municipality of San Juan de la Rambla.
A GES helicopter was called in to support the operation, providing aerial surveillance of the rugged coastline and hard-to-reach zones. At the same time, units from the Guardia Civil have been carrying out land and shoreline searches, covering natural pools, rocky areas, and nearby paths.
Authorities have not yet released details about the missing person, and it is still unknown under what circumstances they disappeared. Searches continued until nightfall and may resume at first light if no progress is made.
Challenging conditions on the north coast
The north of Tenerife is currently experiencing rough seas, with strong waves and changing tides that make search operations more complex. Steep cliffs and limited access routes add to the difficulty, and rescue teams are working cautiously to cover the entire area safely.
Witness information, if any, has not yet been disclosed, and officials are appealing for calm while the search continues. More information will be released as soon as it becomes available.

Emergency services remind residents and visitors that the Canary Islands remain under a regional pre-alert for coastal phenomena, with warnings of dangerous sea conditions across the Archipelago.

- Never underestimate sudden waves, which can sweep individuals into the sea.
- Follow all safety signs and local guidance, especially in areas known for strong currents.
